The Young Pastors and Leaders Conference
Four Days of Powerful Speaking
03-06 February 2025
09:00 am
The Young Pastors’ and Ministers’ Conference provides a four-day experience of encouragement and training. It is a forum for young pastors, preachers, ministers, evangelists, lay leaders, etc., to come together and receive the necessary tools and resources to develop themselves, their churches, and their ministries. The conference is designed to sharpen skills in preaching, leadership, studying, teaching, and ministering. Experienced pastors share their knowledge, experiences, wisdom, joys, successes, challenges, and mistakes to help prepare the next generation of pastors for the unique challenges they face in Kingdom building. In addition to the nightly lectures and preaching, the conference has a “pastors only” luncheon that provides a unique opportunity for young pastors to ask questions and discuss problems with a seasoned pastor who serves as the facilitator. They also tour some of the facilities of Brookland Baptist Church to help develop their vision for church growth and the process required for effective expansion. The conference was expected to be a one-time event. However, the evaluations reflected an overwhelming need for this forum to continue annually! Participants typically come from each region in the State of South Carolina. Over the years, out-of-state participants have increased in numbers. Many of the initial attendees are still actively supporting the conference annually. Also, we have seen an increase in the attendance by seasoned pastors who utilize the lectures and workshops as refresher courses. Although there is a large audience of preachers in attendance nightly, there are also many lay persons who attend because they love good preaching, learning more about God’s Word, or just to support the young pastors. The conference has many components in an effort to continue meeting the needs and supporting young pastors, ministers, evangelists, and lay leaders. This conference is a rich source of aid and assistance that will bless and benefit persons regardless of the level of ministry they may be called or commissioned to serve. For 2025, the conference workshops will also be available in the evening to accommodate those who cannot attend the morning sessions.

About YPLC
History
Reverend Dr. Charles B. Jackson, Sr. hosted the first Young Pastors’ and Ministers’ Conference in 2012 in observance of his 50 years in Preaching Ministry. The conference, “initially called Young Pastors’ and Ministers’ Series,” featured nightly lectures by nationally renowned theologians prior to worship service, which featured a young pastor from churches within South Carolina and out-of-state. Understanding the budget restraints of many churches led by young pastors and their families, Dr. Jackson decided to offer the conference free of charge.
